How can I get rid of black mold and mildew on my roof?

Answered By Rae Fakner, Editor

There are several things to consider in order to get rid of black molds and mildew on your roof. First, what are the possible sources of molds and mildews? As all we know, moisture is the primarily growth area of the black mold and mildew. Eliminate any moisture present and watch for signs of possible growth of these. Usually, it is commonly found in dry, damp areas of the roof.

Second, if there is now black mold and mildew present in the roof, what is the best thing to do? Combinations of roof brush with bleach-water solution are enough to remove these things. Though for some instances, there are black molds that are very hard to remove. It is recommended to use special mold remover solutions found on commercial stores.

Lastly, keep your roof always in good condition by inspecting and looking out for molds and mildew for at least twice a month in order to check and eradicate any black molds and mildew present and thus helping you to avoid further damage and cost in your roofing.
